A few personal projects from over the past years…curiosity gets the best of me ever now and then.
The Blessing II became home to Katie and I in 2018; A few months of elbow grease and a lot of help from my cousin Devon (who is a master carpenter and custom woodworking restoration wiz) saw our 1978 Albin trawler become an incredibly cozy little abode for us two. 10 out of 10 would recommend.
She's a 1948 Chevy school bus, with half a Volkswagen on top, and a home-built loft/bedroom on the back. I found her on craigslist, derelict and empty but still running. When I saw the pixelated photo and put together what could be I knew it had to be my project! On my 24th birthday in 2010 I drove her away...It took about two years of tinkering/building and Ophelia (the "Cosmic Collider") became a home for Katie and I for a good few years, featured in Surf Shacks and a handful of other publications.
Some questions have to be answered in foam and fiberglass...or other materials. Board building made a place in my life out of curiosity and an endless supply of questions. I still have plenty to go, but herein lies a few that I have pursued over the years.
A 17' Anderson/Greenough skiff. I bought the hull and the trailer as a pair, the hull was stripped and set up as a center console. I spent the summer of 2014 grafting a custom cabin onto it and putting her together how I saw fit for my adventures. The Anderson/Greenough design is a local legend, and this is a project I never thought I'd be able to put my hands on, which has changed my life dramatically.
