SateLite (asymm)

SateLite

Another model based in experiments for William Aliotti - SateLite takes what I learned from years of working on the SooperSnake and delivers it into a more back-foot driven board that is happier to go vertical and be surfed with both a dominating back foot. The 2023 season has proven it to be an incredibly useful weapon in a travel quiver from tropical reefs to South American slabs, skeleton bay and beyond..

The major differentiating factor in the SateLite from the SooperSnake is a distinct spiral vee/double concave section in the back end; this keeps it loose and free to pivot and rotate off the back foot. The toe side sports a long flat panel for skate and speed. A pretty deep single concave runs down the center in the chest area which helps a ton with paddle speed, and generates a lot of drive down the line.

Being set up as an offset twin leaves this design extremely loose and playful, but holds its rail with confidence: The rounder, softer heel side is shaped to take all the speed that is generated on the quicker, straighter toe side and harness it. The fins being offset keeps the heel side directly under your heel, while keeping distance from your toes for speed generation - once you find the right spot for your back foot you’ll find the magic of this setup.

*Will’s dimensions at 155lbs: 5’8” x 18 3/16” x 2 7/16”

*Asymmetrical boards are shaped with the longer, straighter side on your toe, and the rounder side on your heel. This balance is still correct on your backhand; asymmetry does not limit a board to ‘only going one way’, which is a question I get a lot and figured should be touched upon here.
